Ekomarine AB's vision is to be the leading supplier to the entire marine market of non-toxic boat hull paints that prevent marine fouling and reduce friction through the water.
Ekomarine's paint system includes environmentally-friendly products, which reduce the environmental impact at all stages, from production, application, function to destruction.
Today, in an otherwise conservative market, there is great pressure for change, which is being driven by both the consumer and legislation. All the players on the market are being forced to take a position and make new priorities where the environment is concerned. This is an advantage for Ekomarine and it creates a unique market opportunity during the coming years. If all boats were to use Ekomarine's paint, the emissions from boat hulls would be reduced by 100 percent. Moreover, the fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions would be minimized.
In parallel with this, a hull paint is under development for commercial shipping, an area that requires longer protection against fouling than the pleasure boat segment. This is a considerably greater business area than the pleasure boat segment. Currently, collaboration is being discussed with a major Swedish shipping company.
Ekomarine AB is also running a development project to purify ballast water, based on the company's patent. The vision is that system provided by Ekomarine will be the natural choice for ballast water treatment worldwide. This is an area where the majority of all commercial vessels will be forced to comply with international environmental legislation on the purification of ballast. The patent concerning the ballast water technique was granted in the United States October 2009. For this project, the company is looking for an industrial partner in the shipping industry
